Success at Bulgarian Wushu Federation Event

Greetings from Bulgaria! The Bulgarian Wushu Federation hosted the 3rd World Taijiquan Championships (Sep. 25th – Oct. 2nd, 2018) - an official event of the International Wushu Federation. Two hundred athletes from 33 countries competed in various events - both modern and traditional taiji. We are very happy to report that the Bulgarian National Team won a gold and a bronze medal in the Traditional Yang Style Hand Form events. Petar Dragoev (Affiliated School Sofia) became world champion winning a gold medal in the Men's Yang Style Taijiquan Traditional Routine, Age: 18-39. Stanislav Bagalev (Affiliated School Plovdiv) facing heavy competition won the bronze medal in the next age group, the Men's Yang Style Taijiquan Traditional Routine, Age: 40-65. They competed with Master Yang's 22 Essential Form. To the best of our knowledge this is the first time that an athlete following the Traditional Yang Family Tai Chi line has won such a place in an official event of the International Wushu Federation of such magnitude. It is our hope that more practitioners of the Traditional Yang Style will join us in future championships in Europe and across the world.
