Associate Instructor
Ramon Suarez who lives in Montevideo, is a Medical Doctor, conscious of the importance that physical exercise has upon mental and body health. In the early 2000’s he began his training in Kung Fu, Tai Chi Chuan and Chi Kung as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine, in Lung Chuan Shu Academy.
Ten years later, he started his training in Shaolin Chuan Uruguay and Traditional Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan in the Affiliated School Dong Fang Zhu.
In the same year, he met Prof. Angela Soci who came to Montevideo to conduct a seminar.
Thereafter and until nowadays, he began a series of travels, , to Yang Cheng Fu Center Sao Paulo-Brazil under Direction of Prof. Angela Soci and Prof. Roque Severino. He also travelled to Brazil and Argentina to participate in seminars conducted by Master Yang Jun.
The following years he became Instructor of Traditional Yang Tai Chi Chuan and participated in numerous national and international activities and courses related to Tai Chi Chuan, Chi Kung, Chinese philosophy and Martial Tai Chi application.
He participated in many seminars conducted by Master Yang Jun including special seminars for instructors such as the Tai Chi International Symposium with the theme “Cognitive Deficit, Alzheimer’s Disease and Vascular Dementia, Tai Chi based research”
In 2012 he founded the Tai Chi Chuan Polyclinic within the Uruguayan National Institute of Rheumatology, in order to develop research protocols to demonstrate the usefulness of Tai Chi Chuan in various branches of Western medicine.
To date three research papers -accepted and presented at International Congresses of the Pan American League of Rheumathoid Arthritis-, have been written in the polyclinic. They are titled: ”Subjective perception of the effects of Traditional Yang Tai Chi Chuan in a group of patients with spondilo arthritis”, “Pilot study training Tai Chi Chuan in patients carriers rheumatologic diseases”, ”Physical and mental effect of Tai Chi Chuan in chronic diseases: research evidence, clinical experience and patient perception”. Currently other research protocols related to Tai Chi Chuan are being processed.
He continues his Tai Chi Chuan training under de tutelage of Prof. Angela Soci in Yang Cheng Fu Center Sao Paulo.
As a Medical Doctor, Suarez is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pathology and Director of Laboratory of British Hospital in Uruguay, as well as Director of Laboratory of the Uruguayan National Institute of Rheumatology.
