Pete Voll

Academy Instructor

Pete Voll started his study of the Martial Arts at the age of 9, beginning with Judo, Karate, & Tae Kwon Do.

At the age of 19, he started to learn Tai Chi and Hsing-I with various instructors in Northern Virginia.

In 1999, he was introduced to Traditional Yang Family Tai Chi when he was fortunate enough to begin his studies with Master Pat Rice and in June of 2013, Passed the tests for rank 6 ” Golden Tiger”.

Over the past 14 years, Pete has attended many seminars from Master Yang Jun and Grand Master Yang Zhenduo. In addition, he continues to learn and practice other styles such as: Xing-Yi, Bagua, Lui He Ba Fa, Baji, Chen, and Sun. Pete has won gold medals in Tai Chi and Xing-Yi in regional, national, and international competitions.

In 2002 Pete’s health started to deteriorate due to Ankylosing Spondylitis, Degenerative Disc Disease, Bulging Discs, Bone Spurs, Frequent Pinched Nerves causing migraines and inability to walk, and Muscle Cramping. Learning and practicing Tai Chi, Qi Gong, as well as other internal styles, has been instrumental at helping Pete keep flexible, active, and mentally strong.

Pete has become an instructor for many reasons: he wants to help others with physical disabilities experience the health benefits of Tai Chi; he wants to educate people about the practice of Tai Chi as a Martial Art to go well beyond just a series of orchestrated movements; he enjoys the interaction of teaching and practicing with others. And on a more personal/selfish level, the time he spends educating others greatly benefits his own physical and mental condition.

In April of 2011 Pete and his wife, Kasia, opened a Chinese Martial Arts School, Full Moon Tai Chi, on Main Street in Front Royal, Virginia (www.fullmoontaichi.org)

Pete enjoys the challenge of figuring out how to use Tai Chi energies to create multiple application techniques for each posture and the transitions between them. He believes that understanding their Martial aspect creates a better understanding of the movements for each of the postures and proper use of the energies.

He is coming to the realization that the practice of the Traditional Yang Family Long Form can be the ultimate way to train your mind and body to use multiple energies that are constantly changing.

Pete strives to share his appreciation and knowledge of Tai Chi as a Martial Art with his students and to try to enrich their lives as his has been enriched through this practice.
