Holly Sweeney-Hillman

Center Director, Senior Instructor

Holly Sweeney-Hillman, Center Director for Bedminster/Montclair Yang Family Tai Chi Center, has been teaching movement arts for 25 years and is currently an Adjunct Professor of Tai Chi at Kean University, Union, New Jersey.

She has a Bachelors degree in Graphic Arts and Dance from Mary Washington College, a Masters Degree in Orthopedic Biomechanics from New York University, and is certified in the F.M. Alexander Technique and Craniosacral Therapy.

Holly began studying Yang style Tai Chi Chuan in 1986 and has been a student of Grandmasters Yang Zhenduo and Yang Jun since 1995.

She became a Center Director in 2002. She currently serves as the academic coordinator for the North American Yang Family Tai Chi Teacher Academy under Mari Lewis and has written numerous articles about biomechanics for the Yang Family Journal of Tai Chi Chuan.  She developed and presents the anatomy and biomechanics content for the TTM-1 seminars in North America.

In addition to tai chi; she loves animals, nature study, horse riding, and her husband, Doug.

Her first tai chi center was founded in 1998 as Tai Chi Montclair. After becoming an official Yang Family Tai Chi Center in 2002, her center has expanded to several different locations within the North Central region of New Jersey and is now know as the Tai Chi Academy of Northern New Jersey.
