Nigel Jennings

Certified Instructor

Nigel’s interest in martial arts began in 1979 when he started training in TaeKwon-do and joined the United Kingdom TaeKwon-Do Association where he attained the rank of 1st Dan in 1983. He continued with his practice until 2007.

Nigel began practicing Tai Chi Chuan locally in 2000 and in 2009, he started studying with Mike Taylor UK, Centre Director.

That same year, he joined the Yang Family Association and attended his first of many UK seminars with Therese Teo Mei Mei. Since 2011, he has attended all the UK Seminars held by Grand Master Yang Jun and since 2012 participated in all the European Instructors Seminars held by Grand Master Yang Jun in Italy.

In 2007, Nigel became an Instructor member of the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain and started teaching but unfortunately due to work commitments he stopped after four years. However, in 2013 he started teaching again and now holds a number of classes in the Peterborough area.

2013 was a big year for him as he completed thirty years’ service with Cambridgeshire Constabulary retiring at the rank of sergeant and as the Head of the Collision Investigation Unit where he had the responsibility for overseeing and managing the investigations of all the fatal collisions in the county. One of the benefits of retirement is that he is now able to devote more time to studying and teaching Tai Chi Chuan.

Nigel is married with two children, both married, and recently he became a grandfather. When not spending time with his family, his other interests include the role of School Governor, gardening and watching a cross section of sports.
