Teacher Academy Student Registration Form:
The Continuing Education Program developed by the Yang Family Tai Chi
Mission
The mission of the Tai Chi Chuan Teacher Academy is to provide quality training for students interested in becoming Certified Instructors. The Academy offers course work for aspiring instructors, which cover all areas outlined in the Progression of Study.
Academy Program
The Teacher Academy’s special program is based on credit system. With this system, an aspiring Certified Instructor can advance in the Ranking system by accumulating required credits rather than fulfilling the time interval required under the conventional system. The accumulated credits are equivalent to hours of study of Academy courses, hours of training with Teacher Academy Instructors, and participation in Association seminars. This quality Academy program ensures that a Certified Instructor, who graduates from the Teacher Academy, has better preparation and qualification in teaching performance and skills.
The courses offered at the Academy, are detailed, in depth study on subjects such as Philosophy, History, Administration, Pedagogy, as well as Tai Chi Chuan Forms, Push Hands and Applications, Anatomy and Biomechanics, Chinese Medicine, etc. The courses focus on methods of teaching in a variety of classroom environments, adapting content and methods to specific student populations.
Continuing Education Programs
The purpose of the Teacher Academy is also to offer continuing education to Certified Instructors after their graduation. This enables them to obtain the required credits to apply for Academy Instructor level.
Furthermore, the Teacher Academy has the purpose to offer special trainings for Academy Instructors and above for their continuing development in their techniques, as well as in their understanding of theories and principles related to Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan.
Training Events
The Academy training program consists of specialized Training Events. These Training Events are classes or seminars with specific content that meets the criteria defined in the Teacher Academy course descriptions.
We have National Training Events, which are organized, planned and managed by Association’s Teacher Academy National Headquarters. An example of a National Training Event is the U.S.A. National Headquarters TTM-1 Program.
We have also Regional specialized Training Events, which are organized by Yang Family Tai Chi Centers and Yang Family Tai Chi Schools.
These events are taught by Academy faculty (Academy instructors who graduated from the Academy or, are registered in the Academy as faculty), and are active members with approval by the Teacher Academy National Headquarter.
National Training Events may be organized together with Yang Family Tai Chi Centers and Yang Family Tai Chi Schools in their respective location, in accordance with the National Headquarter Schedule.
All Training Events are taught by Association approved Academy Instructors, and above, Guest Instructors, Professors and National Training Headquarter Directors.
Training Locations
Academy training is conducted worldwide at National Training Headquarters, Yang Family Tai Chi Centers, Yang Family Tai Chi Schools, and at other locations approved by the Teacher Academy Head. National Training Headquarters are Yang Family Tai Chi Centers designated by the Association to organize, plan, schedule and manage the Teacher Academy program in the country where the Center is located.
Nowadays our Teachers Academy National Training Headquarters are located in: Brazil, France, Germany, Italy and United States. Our motivation is to make it grow enough to have new Headquarters in every country and open the door for anyone willing to be part of this special program.
Training Credits
Training of each student participating in the Academy is recorded by using a credit system and registered in a Credit Registration Software specially developed to serve to this purpose. Credits are calculated according to hours of study completed in each subject area of the Academy Training Program.
Credits for training that are earned through participation in regular Tai Chi Chuan classes taught by qualified Academy Instructor, and above, Grand Master Yang Jun´s Seminars, Master Fang Hong Seminars, National Training Events, Regional Training Events, Association sponsored events, and other seminars may be applied toward completion of the Teacher Academy.
